Walking Group, 9th March 2020 The group walked from the Power Centre to Beauty Park and return.
Walking Group, 12 January 2020 The group had an excursion to Cowes via the Stony Point Ferry. In all 23 members joined the trip led by Graham and Rose Wilson. A great day had by all.

Croquet Glenda Baker, President/ Secretary and Jan Waring Treasurer of the Village Baxter Croquet Club, enjoyed the 2019 Christmas lunch they organised for the Probus Croquet group activity. Croquet is played Monday afternoon for practise and on Saturday for competition . 32 people enjoyed a delicious Christmas lunch.
Walking Group. 9th December 2019. The Walking Group enjoyed a walk in the Cranbourne Botanical Gardens led by Mack Fenwick who works in the Gardens as a volunteer, so we were lucky to have him share his extensive knowledge of the area with us.
Bikies A November 2019. Bikies A Group setting off on the East Gipsland Rail Trail to ride to Orbost, on the last weekend in November. The group stayed at Nowa Nowa for 2 nights and had some great rides between Bruthen and Orbost.

Croquet 16th November 2019
Today the final game of our Croquet Competition was played.
The Probus Club of Frankston Heights Members enjoy playing at the Village Baxter Croquet Club. We would like more members of the Probus Club to join us. We have a lot of fun. See the newsletter for information or speak to other members.
These photos show Victor Paganoni and another member, Ron Martin Dale-Vale, the rivals, before the game. Victor was defending his title and he did this successfully. It was a great game. Congratulations Victor. We all enjoyed a light lunch following our Social games.
OUTING TO PEPPERMINT RIDGE FARM . NOVEMBER 1st 2019.
This Outing was to take place in August, but on that day it was the worst weather we had for the Winter and so it was rescheduled to November 1st.The forecast for this day was 34 degrees, the hottest day we had experienced since last Summer. We were not deterred and so headed off to Peppermint Ridge Farm in Tynong North.
We departed on time at 8:45 am and fortunately it was only a little over an hours driving and we were not heading to the city. Our first stop was at the Cornucopia Museum, which has been created by the Weatherhead family. Julie Weatherhead was to be our host along with her husband Anthony at the Farm. Julie’s family were pioneers in this area and the museum was created from memorabilia and history collected over many, many years by Julie’s parents.
We then drove a short distance to the farm where we were met by Julie in the restaurant which was a converted old school house. It was lovely and fully air conditioned. We were treated to a delicious morning tea of Traditional Anzac Biscuits with Lemon Myrtle and Apple and strawberry gum muffins with strawberry gum cream. We sampled a variety of native teas.
Julie and Anthony prepared very well for the hot day and we moved out into the garden under shelter. Anthony talked to us about all the plants and their uses and then half of the group toured the nearby garden and the others sampled more tea etc. We then swapped over the groups. It was all very interesting.
We went back to the school house where Julie had prepared a delicious two course lunch for us which incorporated edible plants from the garden.
We all thoroughly enjoyed the food, the setting, the information and the cool room. This was a wonderful outing, we all relaxed (some slept) on the bus on the way home after a very interesting, informative day. Glenda Baker.
Outing to Coal Creek, Poowong and Prom Country Cheese. 18th October 2019.
We had a wonderful outing today. Our first stop was for morning tea before going into the Coal Creek Museum Park at Korumburra. We had a lovely time looking at all the historical buildings and memorabilia within the park. We loved all the items in the General Store and so many of us could remember either using these things or they had belonged to our grandparents…. it was a real sign that we were getting old! The old school house brought back many memories too. There was so much to see.
We boarded the bus again and headed for the Poowong Hotel where we were served with delicious meals and enjoyed the hospitality of Fiona and Ben.
On we went to Prom Country Cheese in Moyarra, where we were met by Bronwyn. Again in a beautiful environment we were served with a tasting plate of the cheese produced there from Sheep and Cows milk. The sheep milk cheese was new to most of us and we all loved it. Our hostess Bronwyn had baked delicious scones and served them with jam and cream along with tea and coffee.
To complete the day, and before we headed for home, we bottle fed the dear little baby lambs who were indeed very hungry. We had an excellent trip home. The rolling hills of Gippsland were green and lush and all the dams were full of water. If only we could say the same for the rest of our country. There are so many animals who would love to be in this position with ample food and water.

OUTING TO EDGAR’S MISSION LANCEFIELD. 12/04/2019
In 2017, Pam Ahern from Edgar’s Mission was a Guest Speaker at a General Probus Club Meeting. It was our turn today to go and visit the Mission, which is a farm sanctuary for animals. These animals have come to the mission because they had been ill-treated or born with defects and deserved a good life. They certainly have a good life on this farm.
This year 2019 is the year of the Pig and so we thought it appropriate time to make our visit. Edgar was a pig in need of care and love and was the mascot of the farm. He lived a good life but he has passed away now. The pigs on this farm are treated amazingly. Every pig would love to live there!!!
We had a most enjoyable time there and then we went back to Lancefield to enjoy a light lunch at different café’s and restaurants. The trip home was long due to the heavy traffic but we were able to relax after a lovely outing.

The Wine Group Members enjoyed lunch at Merricks General Store. 28 March
15th February 2019, our Outing was to Daylesford. Our Member Betty Kelly has a daughter who is a resident of Daylesford. Donna along with her husband Kyle were our tour guides for the day. They had arranged for us to see different aspects of Daylesford.
We had a wonderful day. We met at the Wombat Hill gardens which were beautiful and the head gardener brought beautiful Begonia blooms for us to see and to keep. They were magnificent. We moved on to Yandoit, just out of Daylesford, where we experienced something very few other visitors to the area have seen. A man named Chris Olver, has
built a village depicting the times of the Gold Rush days. Called Cross Creek. He has used all second hand materials and his own labour. It was amazing! There was a mine, we examined a beautiful piece of gold. Other buildings set up with models dressed as the times were, the Church, the undertakers, the general store, the Cob and Co booking office, the bank, the grain store, the blacksmith, the movie theatre, the jail and also the noose, the dairy and more. It was fascinating.
We then went back into town where we found lovely places to enjoy a light lunch and a browse in the main street. We then drove out to Glen Lyon where Donna and Kyle have converted the old school into a very comfortable home where we were treated to afternoon tea. Unfortunately these days are never long enough to see more before we have to start on the journey back home. It was a great day.

Monday Night Music Group, December 2018 Throughout 2018, the group has continued to enjoy great music, friendship, a chance to have a sing, and recently the privilege of listening to George accompanying his daughter Rowena on the cello.
Last night we had our Christmas meeting and took the opportunity, while enjoying a wonderful supper and a glass or two of Harriet’s special mulled wine, to thank George and Harriet for their warm hospitality and the opportunity to appreciate George’s very great musical talent and wealth of knowledge interspersed with entertaining yarns.
Harriet and George also, on behalf of the group, thanked Cindy and Jan for their work coordinating the group and keeping all well informed – Cheers!

The Croquet Group Finals. 17th November 2018
Today the Croquet Finals were played under perfect conditions. All games held over the past three weeks and culminating in today’s final were excellent battles. The final game was between Pauline Standerwick and Victor Paganoni, Victor being the winner. He was defending his title and won the game.

Melbourne Cup Day 2018
On Cup Day, the Croquet Club celebrated with a High Tea.
As the weather was too wet to play Social Croquet, we just enjoyed watching the races and thinking how lucky we were not to be at Flemington in all our finery in the rain.
Chris McMillan ran several sweeps and was ably assisted by Maureen Cheeseman.
We all had a great day and a few went home with some extra dollars in their pockets.

Outing to Stokes Museum and the Forest Glade Gardens.
On Thursday 25th October 2018, a group of 40 ventured to Mount Macedon to visit the Stokes Museum and Forest Glade Gardens. This was a return visit to this magnificent place, the home of the most exquisite antiques and beautiful garden.We thoroughly enjoyed our guided tour of the home full of precious items collected over the years by Cyril Stokes. Cyril has now handed his collection over to the National Trust to be cared for and be shared with the public as a not for profit business. Cyril is now 86 years old.
We were so fortunate to have been able to enjoy what has been his passion for many years. It would be impossible to put a price on the value of this collection. It was a beautiful Spring day and so we were able to also enjoy the beauty of the gardens in full bloom.
The Mount Macedon Horticultural Society looked after us with a delicious two course meal. We all had a wonderful day. Glenda Baker. Outings Co-ordinator.

Marysville April 13th 2018
We left Frankston at 8:30 am and travelled to Lilydale where we enjoyed a cuppa and a chat. We then enjoyed a picturesque drive through the Black Spur to Marysville. This was a return visit to Marysville as we had been there eight years ago, after the disastrous bushfires. Our visit was to see how the town had recovered as it is now nine years since the fires of 7th February 2009.The regrowth of the vegetation was amazing. Along with so many other people, our Club had donated many, many plants to be shared between the owners who had lost all trees and plants. It was beautiful to see all these trees and shrubs thriving.
We visited Bruno at his Gallery and Sculpture Garden first. Bruno has a delightful personality and he shared his stories about the fires with us and then explained how he has repaired and developed his sculpture garden. Hours and hours of work have gone into his project and it is truly magnificent.
We then had a delicious lunch at the Marysville Bakery before going to the Bushfire Education Foundation Museum, where David Barton, a local man who lost everything in the fires told us about his experience and how he and the locals have either moved on or hopefully begun their lives in Marysville again. It is a passion of David and a man called Barry Thomas, that the young people learn about fires and disasters and how this horrendous disaster has affected the lives of so many. There were so many items collected from the rubble on display along with many photographs etc. We watched a video taken during the fire, the noise, smoke and flames were unbelievable. It was amazing how anyone survived and such a tragedy that so many lives were lost.
The stories we heard today will be with us for ever. We had an enjoyable drive home. It was a lovely day despite the memories it revived.
